"Viva Cristo Rey"

My report surrounded the monument of Cristo Rey. Cristo Rey is a religious statue built by Uribi Soler. Cristo Rey is a famous monument in Sunland Park, New Mexico. However, its nearness attracts El Pasoans! My grandfather's trip up the mountain is what inspired me to write a report on this beautiful artifact.  By interviewing him, I realized how life-changing the journey up was. Hundreds of thousands of people vistit Cristo Rey in the yearly pilgramages, making them an annual tradition.

El Paso, a city that lies on the border of the United States and Mexico is known for many things, it is undoubtedly known for its one-of-a-kind taco and burger hut, Chico’s Tacos. Chico’s Tacos is unique to the city and can be described as an El Paso staple. People travel from all around the world to El Paso to experience and devour the delicious delight that is Chico’s Tacos.. The iconic El Paso staple is a wonder that came to be. It expanded ever since its establishment in 1953. People all over the world know of Chico’s Tacos and crave the tacos you can drink. In El Paso, one goes to Chico’s. One can try for themselves their iconic dish and decide whether they like it. Whatever the case is, Chico’s is something one must try in one’s life and is important to the El Paso community.

Stand up comedian, Gabriel Iglesias describes the "tacos you can drink" as "the weirdest" thing he has ever eaten. He says Chicos Tacos is an El Paso tradition and people should come from all over the world to try this indescribable dish.

Aaron Jones

The title of my report is “ Aaron Jones: Contributions to El Paso, Texas”. My report is based on the Green Packers running back, Aaron Jones. El Paso was the city where Aaron Jones spent most of his childhood on. Through the years he has focused on giving back to his hometown not only by bringing recognition to the city but also creating camps to help families and athletes. The purpose of my report is to inform the audience of the contributions Aaron Jones has made to El Paso.

As an avid lover of all things music, my essay report was on the El Paso-based experimental rock band, The Mars Volta. Through their multitude of member swaps and hiatuses, the band has grown to embody the spirit of El Paso through their sound and ambitious blend of Latin elements and progressive rock. The struggles and triumphs of the band struck a chord with me, along with the fact that I just love their music, and thus I wrote of them as a shining example of the culture that froths from bicultural hubs such as El Paso.
